There is timeless beauty in the simplicity of nature, and there is a shop on Old South Wharf whose creative artist/owners have captured that beauty in jewelry, art, and ceramics.
Artists Krys DeMauro and Caroline Mullen, high-school friends who are now business partners, have collaborated to present Icarus + Co, where they sell their jewelry, art, ceramics, and textiles. “We are both very drawn to the ocean and to nature, and this island is a constant source of inspiration,” explained Caroline.
It seems the heavier the world gets, the more it needs lightness, and Live Lightly is a motto of Native Shoes, a company dedicated to designing footwear that is fun and comfortable and has a low climate impact and can—and has been!—recycled and repurposed into places for children to play.
What began as a way to fulfill her creative spirit has grown to become a place on Nantucket where you can fulfill your dreams.
Susan Lister Locke is an island jewelry designer with a studio and shop at 28 Easy Street, across from the waterfront Easy Street park. For decades her stunning designs have been sought after to mark special occasions and the milestones of life, for heirloom pieces, and as special gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. She specializes in beautiful jewelry that is fun to wear and designed to be enjoyed.
If you know the meaning of ACK, either you love Nantucket or you’re a pilot. It was her love of Nantucket that inspired artist and photographer Susan Fairgrieve to start ACK 4170TM four years ago in 2017.
Susan and her husband first visited Nantucket in 2000: “My husband and I would always go to The Vineyard. When a friend suggested we visit Nantucket, we thought we’d give it a try. We did, and we never went back to The Vineyard!”
You can see it in the bright colors and attractive patterns. You can see it in the fun, eclectic styles. And you can feel it in the warm welcome as you enter the shop. The Keys have come to Nantucket!

This is Serenella’s second outpost on our island, joining Serenella at 9B South Beach Street, known as one of the top 50 boutiques in the world and consistently voted “Best of” and heralded by regional and national publications.
There’s only one of them in the country, and it’s right here on Nantucket Is land. Kyle Housman visited our island every summer as child, bicycling out to Surfside with his parents and enjoying the natural beauty here. Decades later, when he decided in 2018 to open the first store in the USA for his Vancouver based company Native Shoes, he knew Nantucket was the perfect fit.
