The Community Foundation for Nantucket is holding a Community Raffle to raise funds for the Foundation’s Community Grants Fund. This is the seventh year that CFN will be offering Community Grants. In the first six years, more than $200,000 was given to local nonprofits. This year, Marsha Kotalac, chair of the Grants Committee, wants to insure that all Nantucketers have the opportunity to contribute to this community fund. She said, “If every one of our 10,000 year-round residents gave $10, the Foundation would have $100,000 to give for local grants. This would help our charities spend less time on fund raising, and more time on their critical programs and services. All raffle items have been donated by island businesses and every penny raised will go to Island nonprofits who apply for grants. This is a community-wide effort to help the community. ”
The following businesses have donated raffle items: Seagrille, Downyflake, Lola 41, Murrays’ Toggery, Stephanie’s, Zero Main, Nobby Shop, Best of the Beach, P&M Reis Trucking, Beds and Borders, Marine Home Center, Cape Air, Hertz, Marriott, Kathleen’s Beauty Studio, Organic Nail Salon, Nantucket Bike Shop, Miacomet Golf Club, Emporium, and Marsha Kotalac/Sheri Perelman/Tammy Belanger.
Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Sustainable Nantucket Farmers and Artisans Market on Saturdays, and at tables on Main Street near the Hub weekdays from 10 am to 1 pm. The drawing will take place Oct 1.
