New Chapter with Ideas, Community, and Conversation

The Nantucket Atheneum is introducing a new chapter in their many programs designed to enlighten, educate, and empower our community. They are introducing the Atheneum Insight Series designed to celebrate ideas, community, and conversation.

This new series honors the legacy of past speakers at the Atheneum while embracing new voices, formats, and opportunities to engage. Atheneum Insight Series will feature lectures, author talks, family events, and both in-person and virtual offering. It will continue the commitment to thoughtful dialogue, lifelong learning, and the exchange of ideas that define the Atheneum’s mission.

The inaugural session in this series will be held on Thursday, July 3 at 5:30 pm, when Eric Schmidt, KBE, Former CEO and Chairman of Google will converse with Alan Raul, co-author of Genesis: Artificial Intelligence, Hope and the Human Spirit. The discussion will explore AI’s technological, philosophical, and political implications for humanity. A reception in the Atheneum garden will follow.

Tickets to the July 3 event are $50 per person and are available from a link at Nantucketatheneum.org

On July 26 at 5:30 pm, the Atheneum Insight Series will feature a conversation between Michael Schulder and Michael Posner, a former Assistant Secretary of State and author of Conscience Incorporated, featuring stories from the front lines where the business of America’s biggest brands meets human rights. A conversation with Clare Cushman, lauded Supreme Court historian and author of Illustrated Guide to the Supreme Court will be featured on Wednesday, August 6.

Designed to reflect the spirit of our unique community while inviting participation from beyond our shores, this new series will carry forward the tradition of intellectual and cultural enrichment in fresh and inclusive ways.

Rooted in history, yet looking forward, this next chapter reaffirms the Atheneum’s role as a gathering place for curiosity, creativity, and connection.
