Nantucket Sounds and Sunsets

For the first time, Egan Maritime presents Nantucket Sounds, a series of sunset sails with special guest musicians aboard the historic privateer. This Friday, July 26, sail into the sunset with Egan Maritime and local musicians Susan Berman and Ray Saunders aboard the Tall Ship Lynx. The boat launch to Lynx departs at 5pm from Waypoint Marine, located on Straight Wharf next to Star’s Ice Cream. Patrons will return to the dock by approximately 8 pm.

Known for her eclectic mix of musical styles, local singer and songwriter Susan Berman, along with her partner Ray Saunders, will perform original songs and spirited sea shanties. Susan made a splash with her music in 2018 with her first solo album, Nantucket Girl. It is comprised of original songs inspired by the island’s rich maritime history.

Egan Maritime’s Executive Director Pauline Proch commented, “We are thrilled to have Susan and Ray aboard Lynx. Their songs and performance bring Nantucket’s vibrant and salty, maritime history and seafaring culture to life for an engaging and entertaining evening sail. Lynx provides the perfect stage for this program: the historic vessel enhances the enchanting songs and allows patrons to experience Nantucket as it once was.”

Sail into history while being entertained by seasoned performers and sensational musicians. In addition to the July 26 event, on August 16 American troubadour Bill Shustik is the featured performer for Nantucket Sounds, and on August 23, Susan Berman and Ray Saunders will again be featured. Patrons are encouraged to bring snacks and beverages to enjoy while under sail (BYOB). Tickets are $75 each: to purchase tickets for one of these evenings on the water, call 508-228-2505 or visit eganmaritime.org.

The mission of Egan Maritime Institute is to inspire the appreciation and preservation of the island’s maritime culture and seafaring legacy. They offer a splashy variety of family-friendly maritime education programs for all island visitors and residents. In 2019, Egan is celebrating 30 years of service on Nantucket.
