A new exhibit in the Nantucket Whaling Museum tells the story of inspiring individuals who moved Nantucket—and the nation—towards a more just and equitable distribution of political power. It begins with a simple will written in 1710 that endowed a formerly enslaved man with property and continues to the enactment of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in 1920 that granted voting rights to women.

Three days this week—Thursday, Friday, and Saturday—the Nantucket Historical Association will light up the internet with a vibrant virtual event that embodies the creativity and passion of design.
The Artists Association of Nantucket’s downtown gallery, the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery at 19 Washington Street, is now open to visitors for the 2020 season. Their first exhibition is “Summer Small Works,” which will be on display through mid-August on the first floor of the gallery.
