AAN Lets the People Choose

Quiet beaches, crimson moors, crisp evenings, colorful bittersweet, festive pumpkins depicted in oil paintings, watercolors, ceramics, wood carvings, photographs… and you get to choose your favorites!

Artists Association of Nantucket (AAN) is showcasing the 2020 People’s Choice Exhibition, with the doors opening on Friday, September 25 in the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery at 19 Washington Street. The show is available for in-person, distanced viewing through Ocober 10.

“A long standing favorite among our patrons, the People’s Choice exhibition showcases a wide array of styles and mediums and during our 75th anniversary year. I’m sure we’ll see some extra special pieces,” said AAN artistic director Robert Frazier. “This interactive show not only offers the viewer the chance to enjoy the numerous works by our talented artists, they have the additional satisfaction of being a part of the exhibition by being allowed to vote for their favorite work,” added Frazier.

“The AAN includes close to three hundred local artist members and we are grateful they continue to help make our award-winning AAN gallery one of the most comprehensive venues for local art. This year their works include everything from oil paintings, watercolors, ceramics, wood carvings, mixed media and photographs,” said AAN gallery manager Peter J. Greenhalgh. “This voting exhibition gives our artists well-deserved bragging rights and all of the highlighted works will be on display for the duration of the exhibition,” added Greenhalgh.

The digital version of the People’s Choice Exhibition will be on the AAN website— nantucketarts.org—under the Buy Art link beginning on October 2.

The People’s Choice Exhibition will be on display through October 10. The gallery is open, Tuesday–Saturday 10 am to 2 pm and 2:30 to 5 pm. For more about the AAN exhibits, workshops and classes, and their member artists and events, visit nantucketarts.org.
