The Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce is seeking applicants for the 2014-15 Honorary Mayor position. Applications are due to the Chamber Office by November 20. Individuals who are Chamber members, and year-round residents may apply or may be nominated by a Chamber member.
The Honorary Mayor position is an unofficial, non-political honorary position, created by the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce to represent the Chamber in promoting business and community events, such as the Christmas Stroll, ribbon cuttings, and Daffodil Festival. This year, the Chamber has changed its Honorary Mayor selection from being a fund-raising contest for votes to a selection process by a Chamber Board of Directors’ selected committee. Applications are available by calling the Chamber at 508-228-1700.
