Theatre Workshop of Nantucket is hosting a cocktail party of love, loss, and sizzling lyric-wit set during one elegant evening at a coastal mansion on the island of Nantucket. Their new production of Putting It Together brings together two couples—one older and long-married, the other younger and just discovering the world—under the watchful eye of an enigmatic narrator. Across one night, champagne flows and façades crack as relationships unravel, secrets surface, and the truth becomes unavoidable. The show reflects on ambition, desire, regret and the uneasy pleasure of connection through the rich catalogue of Sondheim songs—from the razor-sharp The Ladies Who Lunch to the slyly tender Could I Leave You? and the quietly aching Being Alive.
Putting It Together is on the Theatre Workshop of Nantucket stage through August 14. Buy your tickets at TheatreNantucket.org
