Theatre Workshop of Nantucket brings us Clark Gesner’s 1967 musical comedy based on Charles Schultz’s beloved comic strip “Peanuts,” You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown. The show has been twice nominated for a Grammy, first in 1968 in its original form, and again in 2000 for the Broadway revival. The cast will dance and sing their way into the hearts of all ages as this delightful musical brings the gang all together for a day in the life of Charlie Brown. Revisit your childhood as Charlie tries to win the heart of the Little Red-Haired Girl, while Snoopy and Linus just want to daydream. Meanwhile, the rest of the characters battle book reports, kites, baseball and misunderstandings. Not unlike the original Off-Broadway production, TWN’s show will feature simple accompaniment: a single piano played by Diane Lehman.
Director Barbara Elder’s cast includes Tim Ehrenberg as Charlie Brown, Sarah Poor as Snoopy, Margie Zarcone as Lucy, Amanda Torchia as Patty, Eddie Yankow as Linus, and Chapin Klein as Schroeder. You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown will play through August 2 on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m., and Wednesdays-Saturdays at 5 p.m. at Centre Stage, 2 Centre Street. On Wednesday, July 24, families with children who have special needs will be admitted free as guests of TWN. Tickets are $30 at www.theatreworkshop.com. Theatre lovers can still buy the 2013 FLEXpass, which runs $175 for seven tickets to any main stage performances.
