The annual swim to raise money for the Nantucket Cottage Hospital Oncology Department and the Palliative and Supportive Care of Nantucket (“PASCON”) is back on Jetties Beach this Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 8 am. Swim Across America – Nantucket is celebrating its tenth year on the island this year. During the ten years this event has been held here, it has raised more than $3.5 million to support on-island cancer and palliative care. Over two hundred swimmers will swim their hearts out with a goal to raise $500,000 for 2022, and more than one hundred volunteers also support the swim in a moving community celebration of life.
The Swim has made it possible to offer comprehensive cancer care on-island and to continue the tradition of providing free palliative and supportive care to island residents and summer residents who need care. Specialists from Mass General Brigham regularly visit, saving patients from making a difficult trip to Boston for care. The Swim Across America oncology suite at the Nantucket Cottage Hospital is a beautiful setting to receive the cancer care services funded by the proceeds of this swim.
