This December The Friends of Our Island Home (FOOIH) will present gifts to every resident of Our Island Home. They have been holding this annual event for several
years.
“The residents are so appreciative of the gifts from Friends of Our Island Home. Some residents don’t have family on island, so this event makes them feel like they are part of a family,” says Debra Bechtold, Dietician at Our Island Home.
“My mother was a resident for four years and she appreciated the work the Friends of Our Island Home did every year at Christmas to bring joy and happiness to her and her fellow residents,” added Kathy Grieder, President of Friends of Our Island Home.
Every year, appropriate gifts are purchased locally, as much as possible, and are wrapped and delivered by the Friends of Our Island Home Board. The Board is committed to “enriching the daily lives of our residents” as their mission states.
They need your support, especially for the Christmas gifts, which they appropriate $100 per resident.
