Improved Pre-Movie Experience
Nantucket Dreamland Theater patrons will soon be zipping through ticketing and concessions in record time. The Nantucket Dreamland Foundation received an donation to upgrade the current layout to create a more efficient system.
When the work is complete, ticketing will be available at both the sidewalk window and inside at concessions, which will have three stations. The new concessions area features drink fountains between registers, a much larger popcorn machine, and two raised display cases featuring candy and other treats. The combination of highly visible drink and snack selections with the digital screens on the back wall will allow patrons standing in line to decide on what to order before they reach the register.
During construction, the staff will set up terminals and concessions stand on the opposite side of the lobby. A limited selection of candy and packaged goods will be available, as well as canned sodas and bottled waters. There is no anticipated interruption of scheduled programs.
“The existing layout was designed for smaller volume of patrons than we currently service year-round. With this donation we were able to focus on important upgrades to our theater operations while working within the structure we already have in place. The goal is to move our patrons through their purchase and on to the entertainment as efficiently as possible, and make the whole experience more enjoyable for everyone,” commented Melissa Murphy, the Dreamland’s executive director.
Construction begins on May 11 and should be finished by early June.
