Festive pumpkins, crimson moors, colorful bittersweet, crisp evenings scented with smoke wafting from chimneys; oil paintings, watercolors, ceramics, wood carvings, photographs, and sparkling jewels……
Artists Association of Nantucket (AAN) is delighted to announce the opening of the 2018 People’s Choice Exhibition, with a festive autumnal reception on Friday September 28, from 6 to 8 pm, in the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery, 19 Washington Street. The show will be on display through Monday, October 15.
“This is the one show of the year where residents and visitors have the opportunity to view the work and vote for their favorite pieces during the opening weekend. The staff then tallies the votes, and the winning works of art will be recognized with a gold medallion next to their work in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition,” said AAN gallery manager Peter J. Greenhalgh.
“Each year the People’s Choice exhibition showcases a wide array of styles, and with so many newly accepted artists members, this year should prove to be quite diverse,” said AAN interim executive director Robert Frazier. “This interactive show not only affords the viewer the chance to enjoy the numerous works by our talented artists, they have the added pleasure of being a part of the interactive process by choosing their favorite work,” added Frazier.
The Solo Show Spotlight Artist during this exhibition is Jo Ann Welch. Located in the heart of Nantucket’s Cultural District, just a stones’ throw from Main Stree, the gallery is open Monday to Saturday, from 10 am to 5 pm., closed each day from 2 to 2:30pm.
