Gallery Opening Features Two Esteemed Island Artists

This Friday, August 22 from 6 to 8 pm, Nantucket artists Rose Gonnella and John Devaney will greet guests and discuss their art and their processes at an opening reception for their show in Robert Foster Fine Art, 8 India Street.

This is the fifth of a half-dozen dual exhibitions pairing two esteemed island artists held in RFFA this season. The John Devaney & Rose Gonnella show will be in the gallery until September 17.

An artist, writer, and educator, Rose Gonnella is known for her stunning color pencil drawings and watercolors, rich still life compositions, and her distinctive textural layers. Four of her drawings are housed in the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Sara Roby Foundation Collection.

Recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Regional Fellowship in Painting, John Devaney’s work has been exhibited in many museums. His work is known for whimsical, evocative imagery and narrative statement.
