The Artists Association of Nantucket will host their annual Wet Paint Weekend this autumn on October 7, 8, and 9, with free events each day and a ticketed celebratory dinner to end the event on Sunday, October 9 in the Nantucket Yacht Club.
For 2022, this AAN event will honor local artist John Lochtefeld. Lochtefeld has been painting and printmaking on Nantucket for more than 50 years and Fair Street has been his home since 1973. He is well-known for his talents in a wide range of work: woodcuts, intaglio prints, watercolors, oils, and sculptures in wood. Speaking about his art, John Lochtefeld once said: “My work often has the quality of folk tales, but they are my tales.” His art is rich with the images of the unconscious and the fanciful.
