Last week I was fortunate enough to meet and chat with accomplished jewelery designer and shop owner, Victoria Greenhood. It is incredibly refreshing to talk to someone who is so passionate about what they do and where they live. Victoria’s love of jewelry and the island are reflected in the work she produces, and her cozy and sunny shop on Easy Street is the perfect location to display her wares. Tucked back in a small courtyard you almost feel like you are entering someone’s cottage, and are warmly greeted with a smiling face and walls and cases of sparkling jewels.
Victoria’s love affair with jewelry began at a young age, and really blossomed when she started working with metals and gemstones. She has an amazing eye for design, and really lets the true nature of the stone speak for itself. The clean lines and wearability of her jewelry make these classic pieces that can be passed down from generation to generation while still maintaining their beauty and stylish flair.
I was in awe over the amount of unique and interesting gemstones in her collection, and I can’t stop thinking about a pair of rutilated quartz earrings that I fell in love with as soon as she brought them out of the case (the photo below doesn’t do them justice). Victoria collects gemstones and pearls wherever she travels, and many of her pieces are one-of-a-kind. She gets her inspiration from her gemstone discoveries as well as her customers and their feedback. She is happy to work with an individual’s style and personality to create a custom piece. I, for one, will be dropping hints about those quartz earrings!
If you are looking to expand your jewelry collection, stop in to Victoria Greenhood first and check out her original creations. Friendly and knowledgeable manager Wendy will help you find what you are looking for, or you may even get to meet the designer herself. The store is located at 5 Easy Street and is open from 10am-6pm daily, in season.
