Sharing Talent and Inspiration

Artists Association of Nantucket’s first artist talk in their 2025 Summer Series will be held this Monday, June 30, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm in AAN’s new Federal Gallery at 8 Federal Street. Sherre Wilson-Liljegren, painter/photographer/mixed media artist and lifelong AAN member, will talk about her process and her inspiration, and she’ll answer questions and converse with guests.

Through the season, a dynamic lineup of visiting artist-instructors will be featured in this Summer Series. These professional artists will talk about their creative process, practice, and inspirations while sharing examples of their work. The talks provide guests with an opportunity to gain insight into an artist’s work and learn about the artistic process. Artist Talks are scheduled on Mondays from 5:30-6:30 pm and take place at either the Federal Gallery or in the Visual Arts Center at 24 Amelia Drive.

The next artist talk will feature abstract realism painter Anthony Padula on Monday, July 14; and on Monday, July 28, painter and draughtsman Dean Fisher will present. Later in the summer, at the Visual Arts Center, contemporary painter Nancy Colella will give a talk on Monday, August 11, while textile artist and printmaker Lisa Sartori will speak on Monday, September 8.

The Artists Association of Nantucket hosts visiting artist teachers at their Visual Arts Center at 24 Amelia Drive in the Kaaren and Charles Hale Resident Apartment. Thanks to the Hales’ generosity, the residence enables AAN to bring a variety of interesting and innovative teachers to our island to inspire the Nantucket community. AAN’s Nantucket Artists in Residence (AIR) program hosts both funded and paid artist residencies and provides visiting artists the opportunity to participate in our year-round art community. Artists are invited to reflect, restore, and revitalize their art practice as they explore Nantucket’s natural beauty and engage with our island artists.
