Friday, May 16, the Artists Association opens new exhibits in both their downtown galleries.
After a successful opening during Daffodil Weekend, Federal Gallery is ready to display its second exhibition, Kickstart with Art. “We’ve experienced firsthand how beautifully this space operates, and we couldn’t be more excited for the season to begin,” shared Tracey Sears, AAN Executive Director. “It has been our goal for some time to have one highly-visible flagship gallery in downtown Nantucket, so these first exhibitions are really special.”
Kickstart with Art exhibition at the Federal Gallery, in the heart of town at 8 Federal Street, will be on display through Monday, June 9. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm.
Concurrently, the Big Gallery will be featuring the Think Big exhibition, which features larger works by AAN member artists. “This artist member exhibition will focus on larger landscapes, seascapes, and everything Nantucket,” said AAN artistic director and curator Robert Frazier. “With its lofty ceilings and extra-long windows, the Big Gallery lends itself beautifully to showcasing larger works,” added Frazier. The Think Big exhibition will be open for viewing through Monday, June 23. Located on the second floor of the Thomas Macy Warehouse at 12 Straight Wharf, Big Gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday from10 am to 4 pm.
In addition to these upcoming exhibitions, the Champion Gallery at the Visual Arts Center, 24 Amelia Drive has rotating exhibitions with artist members and visiting artists’ work. Hours for the Champion Gallery are Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.
