Yesterdays Island, Todays Nantucket

Wet Paint and Fresh Works

Wet Paint Weekend | Nantucket, MAThe week leading up to the long Columbus Day weekend, artists will paint around the island—affording the public the opportunity to watch them work at their easels—and during a festive evening on Sunday, October 8, those works will be auctioned off at the Nantucket Yacht Club, 1 South Beach Street. The preview is free and open to the public and begins at 3 pm followed by the art auction at 5 pm.

“There is so much that is new and fresh about this year’s Wet Paint thanks to our wonderful co-chairs Susan Coyne and Patty Keneally,” said AAN executive director Cecil Barron Jensen. “We are pleased to be holding the event at the Nantucket Yacht Club again this year, and are excited about hosting both a live and silent auction. The live auction will feature brand new fresh wet art, and the silent auction includes ceramics, photographs, mixed media, textile arts, and works in wood. “We truly believe there will be something for everyone,” added Jensen.

“The Nantucket Yacht Club has been so accommodating again this year, and is such a beautiful and spacious setting to premier our artists’ works. In addition, we’ll have a small ticketed dinner at the club following the auction,” said Jensen.

“As has been our tradition, we are pleased to have the wonderful Rafael Osona serving as our auctioneer. He is always a great draw for the event and we hope people will come and bid on the freshly painted works and silent auction items by some of the island’s top artists,” added Jensen. “Proceeds support the AAN’s artist memberships, arts program, gallery, and year-round public programs.”
