The Artists Association of Nantucket (AAN) is hosting an open house on Thursday, February 14 in celebration of Valentine’s Day and the exhibition “I Left My Heart on Nantucket.”
The gallery will be open 11 am to 5 pm and a 5% discount will be given with each art purchase. Mulled cider and assorted sweets will be offered throughout the day. Bring your sweet heart and or pick up a treasure for that special person (s) in your life. The exhibition will be on display through February 15 at the Joyce Seward Johnson Gallery, 19 Washington Street, 11 am to 5 pm.
The second floor gallery features Four Grand Ladies, an exhibition honoring long-time AAN members: Jeannette Carl, Barbara Kauffmann Locke, Maggie Meredith, and Marion Potter Sharpe. All accomplished artists, these women shared a strong passion for art and have recently passed away.
If your idea of the perfect Valentine’s Day is an evening in with chocolates from Sweet Inspirations on Centre Street and a good book, then stop by the Nantucket Atheneum at 1 India Street for their “Blind Date with a Book.”
Atheneum staffers have chosen books in a wide variety of genres, wrapped them in red paper and labeled each with just a few clues as to what book lies within. Patrons can check the books out but will not know the title until they unwrap them.
