Eye on Style, Lorene Ireland

ireland4Many people think of Old South Wharf as a haven for artists and art lovers, with lots of quaint and unique galleries to peruse and a beautiful view of the harbor to get those creative juices flowing. But Old South Wharf is also a great location for fashion and style…and sometimes you get the best of both worlds!

Talented artist Lorene Ireland, known for her summery Nantucket scenes and incredibly intricate mosaics, has recently expanded her gallery to include a store dedicated to jewelry and accessories.  Nantucket Chic is a collaboration between Lorene and her daughter Natalie, an interior designer in New York City.  This creative duo has stocked the store with bright and colorful purses and clutches, an extensive collection of jewelry, and unique clothes, scarves, and beach cover-ups.

In addition to painting and sculpting, Lorene also makes a line of crystal jewelry that’s for sale in the store.  There are a few other local jewelry makers on display, as well as a good variety of costume jewelry that is handpicked for the store.  The rack of clothing is designed by Natalie’s friend, Amy, and includes pieces that are light, flowy, and chic, ready for island living.  There are bags to dress up any outfit, whether you are hitting the beach or heading to dinner on the town.  With a price point for every budget, Nantucket Chic has something for everyone!

Nantucket Chic is open daily on Old South Wharf and is connected to Ireland Galleries, just look for the pink doors! Lorene also sells her jewelry and artwork at the Sustainable Nantucket Farmers and Artisans Market on Saturdays from 9am-1pm, www.irelandgalleries.com.
