CFN Meets Match and Gives Grants to Island Organizations

Nantucket Community Foundation

Through an outpouring of generous donations, the Community Foundation for Nantucket has met ReMain Nantucket’s matching gift challenge.  In just three weeks, the Foundation raised the $250,000 to be matched by ReMain, and they continue to look for support.

“We are so grateful to ReMain Nantucket for signing on to be our first major donor to the Nantucket Fund for Emergency Relief.  Without their initial support and confidence in us the fund would not have grown so quickly,” commented Margaretta Andrews, Executive Director.

Due to ReMain’s steadfast support and multiple private donors, NCF is on track to raise more than $1 million for this emergency support.  As of today, more than $250,000 in Emergency Grants has been awarded to island nonprofits who are providing vital human services and to organizations that needed assistance to remain operational during and after this pandemic. In the coming weeks, NCF expects to receive grant requests that will exceed the $1 million raised to date.

The following organizations received grants so far:

“The grants awarded through the Nantucket Fund for Emergency Relief illustrate the Foundation’s dedication to supporting our vital human service organizations and year-round community. We will continue to work with our Island’s nonprofits to ensure we are able to sustain vital human services throughout our island community,” said Geoff Verney, CFN Board President.

During the coming weeks, Nantucket Fund for Emergency Relief will continue to address immediate and long-term needs stemming from the COVID-19 crisis. The Foundation will award grants from this fund on a rolling basis. Donation to this fund can be made on CFN’s website: https://cfnan.org/give/give-now/nantucket-fund-emergency-relief-fund/
