Celebrate the Holidays with Art

Art takes center stage at three Artists Association of Nantucket (AAN) locations this holiday season. Happening now through December 13 is the AAN Holiday Expo in the Champion Gallery at the Visual Arts Center at 24 Amelia Drive.

“This special faculty and student holiday exhibition features works by a wide range of our AAN students, teachers, and our artists in residence. There will be works on paper, paintings, ceramics, prints and even some specialty gift items all created by our talented students and faculty,” said AAN Artistic Director Robert Frazier. The Holiday Expo is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.

“We are pleased, at this festive time of year, to highlight works created by our students, from beginners to established professionals, by our team of accomplished teachers, and works by our artists in residence from around the country,” said AAN Executive Director Tracey Sears.

The day after Thanksgiving in the Big Gallery, upstairs at 12 Straight Wharf, AAN will host a Weekend Pop Up. From 11 am to 3 pm on Friday, November 29 and Saturday, November 30, guests can shop for holiday gifts created by local artist members: fine art, ceramics, and more. And from Friday, December 6 through Sunday, December 8, a Stroll Pop-Up in Big Gallery will offer a second chance to find that special piece of art for folks on your gift list.

The popular Cool Yule Opening Reception on Friday, December 6 will welcome art lovers into AAN’s award-winning Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery at 19 Washington Street from 5 to 7 pm. Gather to enjoy holiday refreshment, chat with artists, and view the Holiday Small Works exhibition that continues in the gallery through December 21. Artwork in this show has a size restriction of 12 x 16 inches or smaller, making it the ideal place to find holiday gifts of art.
