Nantucket Atheneum Reveals Selection for the 2026 One Book, One Island Program

The Nantucket Atheneum is pleased to announce the official 2026 selection for its beloved community-wide reading program, One Book, One Island (OBOI), inviting islanders to read, reflect, and discuss a shared story.

This year’s featured title is All That Smolders: A Mystery by James Sulzer — a suspenseful novel written by a Nantucket author and filled with secrets, shadows, and a mystery best unraveled together.

Free copies of All That Smolders are available to community members at the Nantucket Atheneum, at the Nantucket Whaling Museum, and at the Inquirer and Mirror.

The Atheneum will host a One Book, One Island Celebration from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday, March 29. The event will include a book discussion with author James Sulzer, moderated by Josh Balling, an interactive trivia contest, and additional activities designed to bring readers together in celebration of the shared read.

One Book, One Island is a free program made possible by the Nantucket Atheneum as part of its mission to foster lifelong learning, literacy, and community engagement. This program is designed to bring Nantucket residents together through literature, conversation, and shared experience — strengthening community connection through the power of a single book.

The Nantucket Atheneum is the island’s free public library, serving as a center for learning, culture, and connection for all. For more information, program updates, and event details, visit nantucketatheneum.org or follow the Nantucket Atheneum on social media.
