Bringing History into the Present

Antique MirrorSome of the region’s best antique dealers are on their way to Nantucket Island with sensational selections of vintage items for the Annual Nantucket Antiques Show that premieres this Thursday.  Starting Thursday, July 29 and continuing through Monday, August 2nd, the Nantucket Antiques Show is back to bring the island classic gems.  From George Jensen silver to Chinese porcelain, there are hidden treasures for everyone!

The event kicks off with Thursday night’s preview party.  From 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm., delicious hors’deouvres will be served and those attending will get the opportunity to get the first look at the show antiques.  Admission to the preview is $50, and benefits the Nantucket Fireman’s Association.

Starting Friday, July 30, the antique show will be open from 10 am to 7 pm each day until Monday, August 2nd.  You may need to come to more than one day to take it all in because more than 22 outstanding antique dealers from all over the US and Europe will be on hand.  Select items from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries being displayed for the show include jewelry, furniture, prints, paintings, copper ware, case clocks, and much more.

Antiques

Hidden in the antiques may be that crowning piece you need to complete your room.  Possibly Port ‘N Starboard’s collection of marine antiques will complete the ambience of your dining room.  On the other hand Gladwell & Company’s traditional oil paintings might be the painting you were searching for to hang over your mantle.  Whatever you are looking for you’ll be hard pressed not to find it at the antiques show.

The Nantucket Fireman’s Association puts on the Antiques show.  They are non-profit organization aimed at benefiting the Nantucket Fire Department, Firefighters, and EMTs. In the past portions of the show’s proceeds have gone towards supporting community programs, purchasing equipment for the fire department, giving out scholarships to local students, and towards providing relief for firefighters and EMTs.

Patriotic Antiques

Whether the historic island of Nantucket is your home or you’re just visiting, the Antiques Show offers a fascinating and varied display.  The Nantucket Antiques show is held in Nantucket High School, 10 Surfside Road. Reservations can be made by calling 757-220-0400.
