Summer Small Works Exhibition Opens Friday

Artists Association of Nantucket’s Summer Small Works Exhibition opens with a festive reception on Friday, July 14, from 6 to 8 pm. The exhibition will be on display through Monday July 31 in the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery, 19 Washington Street.

“The small works exhibition has become an annual tradition for artists and customers alike, and there is truly something for everyone” said gallery manager Peter J. Greenhalgh. “Each artist may bring in six works that measure 11 inches by 14 inches or smaller, so the gallery will be overflowing with dazzling works in watercolors, oils, acrylics, woodcuts, and photographs all emphasizing the talent and diversity of our members.”

“This season we’ve accepted close to twenty new artist members into the AAN fold, so we are looking forward to their involvement, and the small works show is a wonderful way to welcome them as they exhibit alongside our established artists,” added Greenhalgh.

The Solo Show Spotlight Artist during Summer Small Works is Jan Purdy Metcalf, who will discuss her work and techniques during our hour-long Spotlight Artist Talk on Saturday, July 15 at 10 a.m.

Summer Small Works will be on display from July 14 to July 31 in the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery, 19 Washington Street, in the heart of Nantucket’s Cultural District. The gallery is open daily, Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm.
