Discovery Days Youth Program on Nantucket

The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is pleased to announce the return of Winter Discovery Days, a free after-school program for children and their families this winter. This program features different crafts and activities every weekday Monday through Friday from February 1 through April 1, 2016, from 3 to 5 P.M. in the Discovery Room at the Whaling Museum, 13 Broad Street.

Join the fun in the Discovery Room with games, crafts, artifacts, and stories, featuring a different theme and corresponding take-home crafts every week. This year’s themes include ocean life, Nantucket Wampanoags, women of Nantucket, whaling, colonial Nantucket celebrations, and more.

“It is a great pleasure to offer another season of Winter Discovery Days,” says Angie Grove, NHA Sacerdote Chair of Education. “I am excited to explore the different themes and crafts of Nantucket history with local children and their families. There is no better place to escape the winter doldrums on Nantucket than an afternoon in the Discover Room!”

Winter Discovery Days will also be offered with extended hours Monday, February 22, through Friday, February 26, 2016, from 1 to 5 pm to accommodate school vacation week.

Please note that the program will not take place on Friday, February 5 or on Friday, February 12, 2016.

This 2016 program is made possible by a generous grant from the Nantucket Golf Club Foundation. Winter Discovery Days is free to all children and their families. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
