The Nantucket Historical Association again presents the holiday magic of their annual FESTIVALS OF TREES AND WREATHS. The Festival of Wreaths opens with a Preview Party on Tuesday, November 24--call the NHA for tickets. The exhibition will continue this year on November 25, 27, and 28 in the Peter Foulger Museum at 15 Broad Street admission is free. The 80 wreaths will be sold by silent auction on November 29 at 2:30 pm, names of the successful bidders will be announced. The 2009 Festival of Trees opens with a Preview Party on Thursday, December 3--call the NHA for tickets. The display is open Friday, December 4 from 11 am to 8 pm, and continues (Thurs.-Mon.) December 5-23 from 11 am to 4 pm in the Whaling Museum at 13 Broad Street. Additional festival hours are from 1 to 4 pm on December 26, 27, and 28 and on January 2, 3, and 4.

Don't just see Nantucket, experience Nantucket! Come on a HISTORIC WALK through the downtown area, guided by a "resident" of the 1800s in historic garb. The walk lasts a little over an hour and will take you down side streets and through centuries and will introduce you to Nantucket's rich history a history full of drama, humor, tragedy, and strong, independent islanders. Walks leave from the corner of Broad and Centre Streets (outside the Jared Coffin House). Purchase your tickets from the guide in the black cape 20 minutes before each tour: $10 per person ($5 for children under 8; kids under 4 are free), reservations are not required, but the Stroll tours do fill quickly. Call if the weather is questionable. Special tours for groups of 8 or more can be arranged at various times throughout the year.
