The shuttle buses are back! Visitors and residents can ride the shuttle around town, to Madaket, to Siasconset, to the Airport, and to beaches. Buses run from 7 am until 11:30 pm every day; Airport route from 10 am to 6 pm July 1 to September 7; Sconset via Polpis Road 10 am to 6 pm July 1 to September 7. Fares are $1 for in-town routes and $2 each way to the Airport, Madaket, and Sconset (exact change is required). Seniors over 65 half-fare, and children 6 and under ride for free. Seasonal beach buses will transport people to and from Jetties Beach and Surfside Beach for $1 each way (10 am to 6 pm, June 21 to Sept. 7). The Fifth Annual Summer Kitchens Tour will be held Thursday, July 16 and will highlight kitchens in the historic Fair Street neighborhood. This special event illustrates how historic homes can be sensitively updated or historic kitchens incorporated into everyday life. The tour also will highlight local chefs, including pastry chef for American Seasons, Natasha Misanko; and executive chef for Bartlett Farm, M.J. Mojer, Matt Zadorozny, and Dune chef Michael Zetner. Tickets are $40 and may be purchased online or at the NPT office upstairs at 2 Union Street. Also this year, Nantucket Preservation Trust is offering a special pre-tour breakfast and lecture starting at 8:30 am at Figs at 29 Fair. Combination ticket for breakfast, lecture, and tour is $75.

Bird s Eye View of Nantucket
You really haven t seen Nantucket until you've seen it from the Tower of the Old North Church, conveniently located at 62 Centre Street, just west of Broad Street. The enclosed 92-step climb has several stopping points for resting and a museum level with historic photographic displays. A visit to the Tower should only take a half-hour, but you re welcome to stay as long as you re enjoying the view.
