The Artists Association of Nantucket (AAN) is opening the 2018 season with a double exhibition: Found in Translation and 2D to 3D. The opening reception is on Friday, April 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Cecelia Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery, 19 Washington Street.

“Found in Translation will be on the first floor and is an exhibition where we’re offering our guests and patrons the opportunity to write brief comments about what they find in the artists translation of their art, or the art that moves them. Upstairs on the second floor, we will have the added benefit of featuring assorted works on paper and three-dimensional pieces,” said curator of exhibitions Robert Frazier.

“For the past number of years the gallery has been delighted to offer an early spring exhibition with two distinctly different shows on each floor, which provides a wonderful opportunity for both our artist members and the viewing public,” added Frazier.

A stone’s throw from Main Street, the AAN includes over two hundred and sixty artist members who display their work during fourteen different exhibitions throughout the seasonincluding jewelry, oil paintings, watercolors, ceramics, sculptures, mixed media, photographs, and some textiles. The Solo Show Spotlight Artist during this exhibition is watercolorist Romana Rainey.
